Original Contender caliber recommendation

I have a stainless original, the odd animal! I'm thinking about a simple deer taking cartridge with easy ammunition availablity, probably won't reload. 30-30, 35 Remington or 45-70. Any thoughts. 25-150 yard shots. Barrel ill be 16-20" max

You can’t go wrong with a 30-30 Win. New type bullets make the small 30 ... so much better now.
.223 would be a good secondary & companion barrel. ( 5.56 nato should be avoided in the .233) . Higher pressure tends to trash the extractor by bending.

30-30 in Contender is a total love with 125's. Sometimes wish I never sold it. Great with cast 115's too
