Need your opinion on T/C muzzleloader

I have an opportunity to buy a Thompson/Center Encore muzzleloader that is flat new. It has a stainless steel frame and stainless steel barrel with a black plastic stock. It also has a 3 x 9 Leupold scope mounted on it. He's asking $500. Is this a fair price? Also can the muzzleloader barrel be taken off and replaced with a center fire barrel? Did Thompson/Center make a .222 barrel for the Encore? Thanks to all in advance for helping me with these questions. RRM

If it's an Encore, you can put other barrels on it.
The 209x50 Encore is a fabulous shooter.
Read this:TC Encore Accuracy - Accurizing the TC Encore 209X50 Muzzle Loader. Encore muzzle loader accuracy is easy once you know how.
You won't go wrong with that purchase.
Hell, the scope is worth half of asking price!
Congratulations.

The barrel buying addiction is a hard habit to break. Be careful.
Good Luck

Frankly, I'd grab this one in a literal heartbeat!

As above, buy it you won't regret it. I used one in .223 before centre fire pistols were banned over here. I built up a load for it that was incredibly accurate at 200 yds and a real pleasure to use. I have a Scout muzzle loader which is still legal in England but obviously it's not the same thing but it's stilll a TC gun and the nearest I can have to the Encore.
