Sorry Rockys Pop but the SKS although reliable and robust is not exactly perfect. Its trigger could use some help, and the length of pull on the stocks isn't the best. The weight of those bayonets doesn't always help. Almost perfect yes. Perfect? No.
Yes I am bored with mine. Its like a refrigerator. It always works and works so well I forget about it. The beer is always cold. My SKS spends a lot of time just sitting there collecting dust. Balance that with, its always ready just like my fridge.

I have an early Chinese that is milled but the trigger is pretty rough. There is a guy on the survivor Sks board that does trigger jobs that is supposed to be really great and its not that expensive

Here is the link to the guy I was talking about.
SKS triggers, improve the safety of the SKS carbines
Murrays will make the trigger group 922 compliant I'm not sure how much it helps with smoothing it out.
SKS Owners
I installed his firing pin when I de-cosmoed my gun I did not want to risk a slam fire and it was such a cheap and simple fix.

I'm not one for buying two of the same rifle but I'm on the fence I'd love to get a nice Yugo with the grenade cup. I also would not mind one of the imported Chinese Paratroopers that was designed to take AK mags. Ahh so many guns so little funs especially with me getting married this Nov.

I nearly always have 2 of any rifle worth having, and in handguns at least 2 in any given caliber. With the SKS, in the past one could buy one and a few spares cheap. My sister finally cleaned the cosmoline out of the one I gave her for her birthday 30 yes ago. Her family is thoroughly enjoying it now.

Never.
Sure, the pull is a bit short, but not if you're a WWII Russian or a tiny Chi-Com in full winter coats & parka.
I had 6. Five Russians were stolen during a burglary a few years back. I only have the 59/66 left.

Unless the rifle was made at the arsenle 26 triangle with a 26 in it, is really hard to date if not impossible. Here is a link to Yoopers page on dating sks http://yooperj.com/SKS-24.htm

stolen...
Hey, 6 , from 1991, Houston PD has recovered three of 10.
Thank you, honest pawnshops and one Galveston PD buyer.
The third one is on hold while HPD runs "back grounds and records".
Still looking for the Norwegian 1914-Colt 1911 licensed clone, and the Ruger Single Action .41 Magnum,
coastie

yep.......i'm 5'9" but my shoulders are muscular enough that a std.SKS fits me perfectly.
my "bowstring- draw" is only 27" so that should help with the picture.
Hey Reverendg.......that was surely the "gift that keeps on giving"!
