Wink Two Factory Stainless Folders

I have gone through quite a few Mini's and AC's, but here are the two I've held on to: KAC556F and Mini-14 K GBF

Notice the correct side front swing swivels

And the best part, a "Speed Shifter"

Just curious....what is written on the other side of the price tags?

They are not price tags. They are my inventory ID numbers. Since I have an FFL & SOT, I have learned that when a BATF inspector conducts my annual inventory audit, it goes much smoother when inventory tags are attached to the weapons. The tag ID's match up with the inventory ID's I keep in my BATFE A&D books. White tags are for items in business inventory and colored tags for personal, non-business, inventory. I have never had a problem with my audits using this inventory method.

Nice....I'd love to have that AC556...has it seen any full auto fire?

What is the "K" designation for?

I fired it once when I got it into inventory just to make sure all was OK. It shot fine, in semi, 3RB, and full. I think I put 300 rounds through her. I keep it matched with a new, unfired, Gemtech HALO suppressor as the HALO attaches right over the flash hider. This makes for a nice, compact, suppressed full auto 5.56 package. That is why the AC has two inventory tags, one for the weapon and the one for the suppressor.

I believe the "K" prefix in "Ruger Speak" stands for "Stainless Steel."

Well put.

I'd trade my mint-in-package 1980s He-Man collection for that top one (and the right to possess it in my state).

sigh.

I moved my photos from Foto-Suck-It to Post Image. Here they are so you can see them:

I forgot to mention in my original post that my stainless AC is a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol veteran.

I see you waited almost 10 years to move then so we could see them. Thanks for doing that. I assume you still own these rifles ?

I like them! I actually fired an AC556K with a speed shifter at an LEO Rangemaster school about 1983 or 1984. I REALLY liked it! I found it to be as easy to shoot as the M2 Carbine if you kept the burst to 3 rounds or so.

The three full autos I would love to own:
M2 Carbine
AC556K
Reising Model 50 .45 ACP (Marine Raiders in WW2 loved them) If only they didn't just have 12 and 20 round magazines!

I have fired all three, and they all have a certain charm.

I have a soft spot for Mini 14s---have owned several over the decades---kept two 183 Model GB Models---one blue---one stainless. The blued rifle is surprisingly accurate for a Mini---the Stainless just average Mini 14 accuracy. The Stainless rifle was slipped into a factory folding stock many years ago and is currently loaded on standby as we are experiencing riots over the police killing of George Floyd---it performed the same duty during the 1992 Rodney King riots when I was managing a gun store. I recently traded for a stainless 580 series, but haven't had the chance to shoot it yet...
