Mini's in Action

So where has everyone seen mini's in the media, be it tv, movies or printed materials?

In the movie "Breakdown" with kurt russel one of the bad guys uses one as well as in "Escape from LA" the bad guy uses one as well.

and i just noticed that on the packaging for a sling i got from wally world a guy is demonstrating different carrying possitions using a mini.

anyone else notice any?

I remember some b-film about killer worms sneaking up and eating people in the desert. The gun-nut/survivalist had a mini outfitted with a bullpup stock.

Can't think of the name, but it had Bruce Willis in it. He had to protect some kid who could crack a secret code. In the opening scense, he was in a bank being robbed by some sore of militia group. At least one of them had a mini. Alas, lost ot the guys with the black things.

I think they are the choice of weapons for bad guys in ''Broken Arrow" and the "Die Hard" movies.

Am I the only old-timer who watched the A-Team back in the early 80s?

They had stainless Minis with folding stocks, if I recall.

They didn't do much killin, just lots of shootin (it was a non-violent prime time program).

If i'm not mistaken there is a nice looking young babe with a mini in a newer B-movie called Cabin Fever. Can recall the A-Team lighting off 500 rounds in seconds and nobody getting hit. They just needed a little tuning. Oh yea that s#@% was'nt real.

Since we are getting on the movie thing again, I will add in Leon: The Professional. Some of the SWAT members in the end have them.

The "sniper" in "A Fish Called Wanda" used a Mini-14. He was trying to shoot an old woman and missed her and killed her dog.

I realize you would have to see the whole movie to think this was funny.

Very funny movie.

Ain't as cool as the movies, but NYPD SERT used to carry Mini 14's. Don't know if they still do, kinda doubt it - MP-5 is better urban police spec ops weapon.

hehe yeah in 4 he was Hiram Gummer. the polar opposite of burt hehe. though i did notice a slight discpreancey between 4 (Prequal) and 1. it made it look like the Gummers settled there forever. Yet in 1 Burt said he and his wife sittled there for the Geographic isolation... but then maybe im over thinking it lol.

I also just remembered that moronic movie "Atomic Train" that was suppose to take place here in colorado. they had some looney milita (the bad kind) running a gas station and charging $20 a gallon. a couple of the men were carrying mini's. the movie was dumb though....

The 'sniper' chick in Formula51, with Samuel L. Jackson. Not a very good movie, but there were some funny parts and the chick was hot.

I don't know what a NY SERT is but everytime Fox News shows NY cops in relation to a 911 type of response they show a bunch of stormtroopers carrying blue folder Mini-14 GBs.

I have no idea where they got that video clip or how old it is.

Another pic, not an ar or a mini... They probably a little bit of everything to choose from. This guy was gaurding the citi building (as attested by the sign in the background).

later,

MP5, I lightened the pic up for you.

I believe they havve MP5's, M4's, AR15A2's, shotguns and bolt rifles to round out their armory....I cannot find nor remember the source, but I am almost positive I read that they (NYPD and their sub-units) got rid of the mini's.....I could be wrong though...

Why did you lighten the picture? It looked fine on my screen...

Back to the subject, according to this news article : http://66.218.71.225/search/cache?p=NYPD+M...4BFA809B2&icp=1
And this one:

They still carry them...

It's probably just the settings on some computers. I'm at work in a well lit room with a 19" monitor. No big deal, I thought maybe I had missed something that's all.

In Face Off, the guards at the hospital had Minis.
In most prison movies, the guards have Minis, which I think reflects real life.

Probably the oddest use of a Mini 14 that I've seen was the Bruce Willis movie Tears of the Sun. (or Tears on the Sun?)
The sniper had a Mini 14 with a scope.
Now, you could use a Mini as a sniper rifle, but I'm thinking a Spec. Ops. unit would pick a M14, or a bolt action.

I just saw a rerun of the movie about a gold heist, with Gene Hackman as one of the badguys, (can't remember the name) with a really cute young wife that turns him over to the other bad guy, Danny Divito in the end.
He smuggles the gold on his yacht.
Anyway, in the shoot out with Danny Divio's thugs, one of the thugs has a GB Mini, with a folding stock.
