My Mini 14 came back from Ruger today. I'd sent it in because it was firing 2 and 3 round bursts.

Upon arrival, I installed an Ultimak and EOTech. When installing the Ultimak, the gas bushing fell out of the gas block. I reinserted it with the grimy side against the barrel. Does that sound right? Is there a top or bottom to the gas bushing?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think it matters. The gas bushing is symmetrical top to bottom.

Believe me when I tell you, firing 3 round bursts was the most exhilerating thing I've done since 1969. However, I understand the fines assessed, not to mention the jail time, by the ATF are significant.

I did have a couple of offers to buy my gun within 10 seconds of firing the first burst.

2 rnd and 3 rnd bursts are cool...emptying a 20 or 30 rnd mag with no way to stop it ain't.
