Hey imarangemaster:
Once you get your new Mini we should get together to do some shooting,
I'm only a 45 minutes from you.

Wow, I got the "used" wood stock. It is virtually mint! That and the new Choate ventilated hand guard will dress my my girl up swell. I'll keep the poly stock, but I am a wood and steel kinda guy....

I will hang on to the poly stock, as it is about 1/2 pound lighter than the wood. Better for hiking in the hills. For around the house, though steel and wood!

Its funny, though, initially I was looking for a stainless Mini-30 with a poly stock on GB when I found the deal on the Mini-14. I had wanted poly for the lighter weight. When I saw this clean wood stock with all the metal fittings for $60, I started thinking about how cool my Stainless/Wood Mini-30 looked. Wood and steel, all the way!!!!!

Tallying up what I got for $795

(1)581 Series, tapered barrel stainless Mini-14 in Poly stock. ($950 Buds price for new)

Accessories
(4) Ruger Factory 30s at $32 each (cheapest I could find) = $128
(2) Ruger Factory 20s at $26 each (cheapest I could find) = $ 52
(1) Tapco Gen II 30 at $15 (if you can find them = $ 15
(1) Preban Mini-13 40 round mag, nickel = $ 45
(1) Accu-Strut 2 clamp stainless = $ 130
(1) Primary Arms Red dot = $ 130
Total would have been $500 for all of the above.

That means I got the Mini-14 for $295!!! The only thing I probably would not have bought is the strut, as I don"t need one on a tapered Mini for my kind of shooting, so that brings it up to $425 - except, I'll probably sell the strut for $100.

While they submitted the DROS to CA DOJ a couple days ago, the called me yesterday and told me my 10 day wait became a 21 day wait, because "the state is so backed up". Funny thing is, it is an automated system, as far as I know. I think it is Newsom using an excuse to slow the sales of guns. I have heard since Mar 1, dealers have sold as many guns in California as they did all of 2019. I would not be surprised. My dealer said he is busier than when Obama was elected in 2008.

Actually, if anyone is interested in the stainless two clamp accu-strut, PM me, I'll make you a great deal. I don't think I will need it for using it as an iron sight Home Defensive carbine. My first 583 I had did not need it. I won't know if I am going to use the Primary Arms red dot until I try it. I have a Bushnell AR Optics TRS-32 on my AR-15 M4gery, but I seem to have better luck with my Minis with iron sights. I can break a clay pigeon at 100 yards with iron, so that is all I need.

Mostly automated, It is not automatically a 21 day wait, the dealer has no way of knowing how long over 10 days it will take.
Most are running 14 to 18 days right now, some are getting cleared on day 10, I released a couple today that were cleared on day 10.
However most are going 14 to 18, the longest one we have had so far
was 19 days, but most by day 15. Each week is getting better.
That being said, try not to think about it. I know its like being a kid waiting for Christmas morning

Memorial day weekend is in there too. She actually had talked to DOJ that day because they entered about 16 firearms, and they told her 18-21 days Ugh! Now I am really like Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" waiting for his Red Ryder BB gun!

If it is the 2 clamp that means it's 5" long ?

Yes, 5" long stainless. As my Mini will be an iron sighted HD carbine, and I really don't need the extra weight of the Accu-Strut. I'll do $100 shipped, if anyone is interested.

I’m flexible but need to plan ahead. I’m house sitting a ranch in Oakdale while friends are stuck in Europe. They got burglarized three time in one week before I came down. I do go back Home to Grass Valley a couple days a week though as I am a Realtor and have four listings I need to show including my daughters horse property.

I'm busy all week end showing real estate up in Grass Valley. Besides, don't have my Mini-14 yet! We will make it happen, though.

I have been house sitting a friend's ranch in Central California for a month now, just going home to GV a couple days a week to take care of business. The friends are stuck in Europe because of COVID, and their place was burglarized three times in one week, so I stepped in to house sit. I'll be back home in Grass Valley the next three days selling real estate. Hopefully the DROS back up is taken care of and I can get my Mini-14 and M1 Carbine out of jail.
