Angry Since Tapco belly up, what about mags.

Remington picked up Tapco, then shut them down. Anyone know if anyone (ie Magpul) had picked up rights to the Gen II Tapco Mini-14 mags? If not, it is a darn shame, because they were really decent mags.... while Ruger factory are the best, at 2 for the price of 1 factory made Tapco a good deal.

They are out of stock everywhere, and listed as discontinued on the larger sites.

Well that really blows for Tapco fans. Bass Pro has them for 21.99 for now. That doesn't seem like a great deal compared to steel factory or OEM mags. My advice in a situation like this is to "Buy once, cry once." Invest in good steel mags that will last a lifetime and you're done!

Well there goes my lifetime warranty on my Tapco stock.
To bad as I really liked their stocks nice and tight no shims required.

I don’t think MagPul would touch there mags. They are to hit and miss. I had one Mini they worked great in. My current one they won’t feed. It would be nice if MagPul would design there own.

From what I read, nothing from Tapco will be produced.
Along with anything from Stormlake barrels and DPMS.
Get what can before all is off the shelf.

Tapco FDE mags are easily found for $13-$20 each.

Black are basically gone at any normal price.

Tapcos are not perfect.

Most users report they will not seat on closed bolt with just a few rounds in. This is because of the anti tilt follower and strong spring.

Many users report mag not activating the bolt hold open on last round fired.

Few reports of the mags not liking steel ammo.

I bought some for about $12 without shipping recently.

Here is a link for a quick easy buy at just over $13 with $8.45 shipping for up to 4 mags.

The reason I link this one is because checkout is very quick and easy if you have a GB account.

If you need more than 4, google this seller and buy direct from his website, he has nice prices on them in FDE and shipping is OK.

Thats too bad. I prefer factory steel and pre-ban aftermarkets anyway but I was hearing good things about the Gen II Tapco Mini 14 mags. If I come across any I'll grab them if they're $20 or less, otherwise a few extra dollars will bring factory steel 20 rounders.

Oh wow, I had no idea TAPCO went AWOL. Good looking out with the Jestice Arms recomendation- just grabbed a half dozen FDE Tapco's. Don't want to be stuck with out of commission mags in the future and not have replacements.

Currently Jestice Arms has FDE Tapco Gen II in standard 30 round, and 10/30 rivet blocked. They are around $15. CDNN has some FDE ones for $19. I have a total of 7 of the standard black 30 round Tapco Gen IIs to go with my half dozen Ruger factory mags (two 20s and four 30s) and a couple 40 round USA mags.

While the Tapcos are ugly, they are very light, and have always worked excellent for me.

Yeah I was pretty bummed at the SHOT show when I found out that Remington had bought them and then dumped them. They also dumped DPMS and Bushmaster.

This didn't come from Remington. It came directly from Cerberus who owns Freedom Group who owns Remington.

They are systematically buying up and killing lower output gun companies to eventually kill the gun culture. However they are for Profit entity that is traded on the NYSE and so they can only move so fast.

They came out with the game plan back when the Sandy Hook Massacre happened, it's taken them years to run companies like Bushmaster, and DPMS into the ground as they had to do it slowly so they wouldn't be exposed. It still happened in less than 5 years!

Keep in mind Soros has some skin in this game and that should concern all of us. He needs to go, along with all of his family, who are nothing more than Elite Commies. And yes Chelsea is married to one of Soros' offspring. They are all part of an incestuous left wing dynasty.

I liked these mags even though I haven't gotten mine to be reliable yet. They just need to be ran more. They were a good looking product.

Randy..

I've been lucky in the past with the Tapcos in my 186, they all ran perfect. A loaded 30 round Tapco is about 1/3 or more lighter than a steel factory loaded. I'll have to see how they do in the 581 Stainless I am getting.
