If no one has mentioned the UK version of the Mini-14 that was a straight pull rifle. The gas system of the rifle did not allow gas from the fired cartridge to impinge on the op rod. Every time you fired it you would manually have to eject the round from the chamber by cycling the op rod.


In 1988 the UK banned semi-auto rifles and this allowed Ruger to still sell the Mini-14 in the UK.

Helmut: Another little known fact that might go over well with your Review Board is the fact that originally the Sturm Ruger Emblem was Red.

After Sturms death Bill Ruger changed it to Black, and it was that way until the 50th anniversary of the company when it was resurrected.
