Sig Romeo5 Red Dot

Anyone tried the Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot? Looks like it may be decent for the Mini.

I have tried one on a friends CZ carbine and it has 2 features I really like, the MOTAC and the anti-glare lens. I’ve seen some models on sale for as low as around $120. There are some counterfeits out there and some are earlier year models. I would not buy one from Amazon rather someplace like Primary Arms, Optics Planet, Sport Optics, etc..

Heard nothing but good stuff from anyone that's used one.

Wish I had one for mine! The MOTAC feature is fantastic, particularly for a "house/bed gun".

A lot of good Sig sights on the market, the Echo1 looks impressive too!

The market is becoming saturated with inexpensive good red dots and some of the higher end manufacturers like Sig and Eotech are coming way down on prices. Decent night vision sights are out of my price range but maybe one day.

I’ve got one on my Ruger PC Carbine. I like it, pretty sure it’s made in China. Got it at Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore.

Sighted it in pretty easily, for quick and close. My eyes aren’t what they used to be.

I have two on both of my ARs. Don't like fat optics.

On sale for $119.99 at Palmetto State. The other good thing is it comes with both a low and high mount.

That's something I'm wondering about. If I use the high riser, would I see my irons through the gap? With the low, would they do something like a co-witness? Wondering also about ejects and the large battery knob. I'm not setting up a Scout rifle, so would need to go back as far as it can or forward.

The reviews show it being very durable, light and small. Would like to see it on a Mini to check it out.

May have to get it and do a review. "But, Honey, it's for science..."

Hope this helps. This is how I set up the Primary Arms micro dot (low riser) with the GG&G rail on my Mini. The PA is almost identical to the Sig Romeo.

You won't get a co-witness on this setup. The brass does not hit the battery cap. Using the high riser you can see the sights. The reason I setup mine up this way is I can slide the micro dot all the way to the front and add the PA 3X magnifier if desired. I ordered the Sig Romeo 5 yesterday from Palmetto to put on my CX4 carbine.

Gameover, thanks so much. Ordered the Romeo5 from Optics Planet. Your pic and experience helped a lot. I have the Ruger picatinny that came with my 583 SS but, yeah I see the no co-witness. No problemo.

I am also interested in the 3x magnifier combo. With my eyes the red dot is good out past 100, but beyond that would like the option of magnification.

While the Mini is not setup for all the additions that all the AR style rifles are these days (it's not designed to be THAT style of rifle), it is interesting how one can take advantage of some elements to improve the shooting experience. In my constant search for improving my marksmanship and gun handling skills it's nice to see what actually benefits me on my trek.

Still like my irons, but it is nice to use these options for some modern day situations and training. I still say that the Mini can hang with the big boys in all the under 300 yard stuff that folks like to train on these days. Sure, there are some better options out there for certain situations, but the Mini seems to be adequate and sufficient to take care of business when necessary.

I'm loving the journey to push me and the Mini to see what we can do.

Put my Sig Romeo5 on. Set it back by my rear Tech sight. With the riser I could see the front blade but not the rear sight. May try it later towards the front of the picaniny rail.

Right now looks pretty damn good. I didn't mind the Sightmark Ultra Plus, but it was a bit big for the Mini though it also looked good. This is better. Will give a range report soon.

I think this looks much better on my Mini.

I've had the Romeo 5 on my Mini for a while now. I wouldn't call it a long-term test, but it is working well for me. I used the receiver rail that comes with the gun and mounted it as far forward as possible. It doesn't seem to be getting hit with brass or anything else, FTM.

I see no way to make it co-witness, even with a forward rail - except, possibly, with the high riser...which I would not want to use because it's too high for this gun IMO - but if it were to fail, it is easy to remove. Mounting on a forward rail would at lest keep the irons usable in that event. However, I have not yet been convinced to mount that railed handguard. I'm sure I'll get around to it....

What I can say about the Romeo 5 is that it is easy to mount and to adjust the zero. It is also easy to turn on/off and adjust brightness. The dot is fine and easy to acquire.

If it holds up under the Mini recoil system over time (mine has the gas reduced and a buffer at the rear), I will have nothing bad to say about it.

The Sig Romeo 5 is a lot bang for the buck. I have them on several platforms.
Would not hesitate to buy more either.
