Have a church shooting event Saturday. I think 🤔 Iíll run the Vortex red dot.

I also have a Mini with the S&K scope mount turned 90 degrees. You have to rethink the windage and elevation but the concept works.

I have their fixed 3x and a 1-6x, both with the great ACSS reticle. I'm starting to prefer the 1-6x, both weigh the same.
Just got the 1-6x from PA. Curious about how you are mounting it. I have a newer Mini 14.

Nikon 30 mm rings on the x39 AR. Haven't had a chance to mount it on my Mini yet as Ruger is taking their time sending me rings. ( 30mm Mediums)
Maybe I'll have them by Christmas.

I used factory 30mm rings for my PA 1-6

I ended up with Warne rings. I actually like them pretty well so far, although not as easily installed as some others I've tried.

Little late to this party, but still want to chime in. I've been back and forth about what I want optics wise for my Mini 30. When it really comes to it, I want both. I would love the idea of just a simple red dot. My issue is with targets just far enough out that I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting an optic with no magnification. I'm not looking to match some MOA grouping on paper, too many people out there seem to be overly concerned about the size of their groupings.

I plan on getting a variable optic. Gives me the advantage of quick acquisition and comfortable distance shooting if I need it.

hoagie90: Have you considered one of those "two in one" scopes, with the red dot on top of a 4x or something? Or a magnifier for your red dot?

... or... a "tacti-cool" canted mount for a red dot?

My only issue with something like that is how tall or top heavy an optic like that will be. I'm currently looking at some vortex and Leupold optics, probably some scout optics.

As for the tacticool option, I'm going to to stay away from canted red dots
