Truck Guns?

If Im heading over to the old farm place, I'll throw my Savage Model 340 .222Rem. I dont mind it getting a scratched up a bit, and I can shoot it very well. If Im hunting coyotes etc I will throw my 22-250 Rem in a plastic case. So whats your main truck gun?

Usually it's my Colt SAA in .44 special. If I need a rifle it'll be my BLR in .308 or sometimes I'll take my Rossi Ranch Hand .44.

I have a Mini 14 or a 30-30 that ride in my jeep, on the quad and in a saddle scabbed.

Mines a lowley H&R Topper 88 12 guage break open single shot with interchanable choke tubes (those were added later when I blew the first 2 inches of the barrel off). Its a cheap gun I bought 28 years ago, but pretty rugged and simple. Being so light though it does kick like a mule with slugs! The 12 guage bore makes it a pretty flexible weapon too capable of handling a wide range of loads and duties.

I have seriously thought about adding a 22 Cricket rifle to the mix as a cheap alternative or addition too.

I live in the country but commute 5 days a week into the ghetto of Florida's Murder Capital.
So, there's a J-frame 357 magnum in the glovebox (when it's not in my pocket), a K-frame 357 in the console, and a Winchester 94 30-30 under the flip up back seat.

9mm CX4 is a great truck/trunk carbine. And it's the same round as my handgun, so it keeps the ammo interchangable, but adds that "reach out and touch" ability to 150 yards or so.

Other option is a PS90, if I have the FSN along. Again, keeps the ammo standard for both, and provides a good carbine back up to the handgun.

Depends on what I am doing,
My EDC is a .45acp,normally extra mag in holster.
When I'm going fishing in my favorite place a Model 60 .22lr.
When I'm going some where I haven't been. My M1 Carbine, 1-15 rd in the cup holder and two 30-round mags in belt clip on pouches in the door compartment.

Mine is a Saiga 7.62x39 I converted myself, and it resides most often in the truck locking tool box behind the cab of my old 4WD Silverado.

I carry also, with the Saiga, a perfectly innocent looking, black, fishing gear bag. The Saiga (folding stock) fits in the bag, along with 4 or 5 thirty round magazines. Yeah, it's heavy, and if law enforcement ever picks it up, the deception will fail utterly...way too heavy for fishing gear.

Behind my seat, sits a harmless looking Marlin 336 30-30 lever gun.

And finally, I always have a shoulder bag, in which is concealed but readily obtained, a Ruger SR9c, with 18 in the gun, and an extra ten in another magazine.

I bring one of my trusty lever guns, the 1895 Guide or the Rossi M92 in 45 Colt. The ghost rings work well.

Two guns, Savage Single shot bolt action 22LR for 90% or better of my shooting and the old Win 94 32 Win spcl for anything serious. Both guns probably older than 90% of the forum but they work for me. Us dinosaurs like our dinosaur guns. For the last half century they been drug through the muck and mud and sand and gotcha bushes. Both guns have proven to be reliable and accurate enough for any shooting I am likely to need them for.

Short Ishy in .308. Gibbs #7 Jungle Carbine (not to be confused with the original SMLE #5 Jungle Carbine).

Love that gun! I would like to find a good Ishy to refinish and spiffy up in a configuration simular to that. Itd be a great truck gun for sure!

Motorcycle gun? Glock 36 w/spare mag on my belt, KelTec PF9 w/spare mag in shoulder holster, KelTec .380 in back pocket.
For lesser confrontation, I've got an ASP telescoping wand in a holster fastened to my handlebars. Nice sometimes to have another 24" reach when needed. (I'm just sayin').

I don't have a truck, and being I live in the suburbs, I wouldn't keep a firearm in it if I did.. too much risk of a heroin addict breaking into your car. Usually my Ruger Sp101 in .357mag is my EDC, and sometimes the Springfield 1911. If I have a rifle in my car it's because im going somewhere to shoot it. If you need an Ak47 in your car to feel safe maybe you should move to a new neighborhood, Just sayin..

I use an old beat up Remington 748 auto, in o6. Iron sights, but I can hit an elk's chest with it at 200 yds, which is the main reason it's in the van, but another is that I have some of the old black tip AP bullets, loaded in modern cases, in one of the spare 9 rd mags. I cut off the lips of one mag and Tig weld it to the bottom of another. They want way too much for 10 rd mags to get me to buy one. :-) For coyotes, fleeing cripples, defense against rabid critters, men, dog packs, etc, i want rapidfire potential. you guys can keep those bolt actions. I keep a set of custom ear plugs in a case that is pocketed and corded to my belt. I never fire a shot, unless it's in dire extremes, without ear protection.

I just carry my taurus .45acp. Unless Im going hunting or shooting somewhere. I dont usually have the need for a truck gun. If I lived on a farm or something I would probably keep my Mini-14 handy.
