Bersa Thunder in the console and a Charles Daly 1911 under the back seat. Mini14 or an AR carbine for traveling.

Any plain "Jane" lever action 30-30 caliber rifle is a good choice. The police rarely see any ulterior motive in such an old hunting rifle. They are all eyes if it is a AK-47 semi-auto clone. The 30 WCF will do more than the 7.62 X 39 and will deliver enough rounds to reduce an armed threat.

my CURRENT truck gun is a Henry Deluxe lever in .22 magnum., running Hornady V-max ballistic tip ammo.
accurate to 100 yards, tough, and not expensive to feed.
12 rounds per tube and the gun hides perfectly under the rear seatback , which stays bolted down w/a big speaker box on top of it.
still have my 1911 in its' seat holster and now a .380 in my back pocket.......not counting the 3 knives I carry.......

My favorite truck gun is an AR, I usually carry the 358 with 225s. It will stop a truck, the 223 is for light work and the 30-39 is for general medium application. All have scopes with veriable power. If we need more gun or more ammo, that can be carried in the Du-Ha Box.

Just an old gun show 1916 Spanish Mauser (7mm) with a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. Simple, reliable, powerful, gets the job done, and the red dot is a hell of a lot better (and faster) than the stupid old blade type sights.

if i were going to do this, I'd use an SkS, cause it's legal almost anywhere. I'd have some stripper clips rubber banded to the stock, so that I could leave the gun un-loaded, but get it into action in a couple of seconds. I'd have both Corbon's 2200 fps 150 gr softpoints and some steel cored ball ammo. The first for taking elk or moose (deer venison aint worth shooting, in my book). and for stopping power. I'd want the steel-cored ball ammo for shooting thru cars really well.

I've been looking at 2 rifles. One is a .44 magnum Marlin lever action and the other is a SAR-1 in 7.62 X 39 configuration.
I like the idea of the SAR-1 because I can easily carry lots of ammo and quickly reload the rifle in the middle of troubled times. The lever action I like because it's a good, powerful round and, at close range, the saddle carbine is a quick and easily maneuverable firearm. Both weapons have their pluses and minuses as far as I am concerned. The question is which one do I want to use and why?

I don't own one but I always thought that the folding KelTec Sub 2000 in it's case would fit nicely under the back seat of my truck

Right now I just keep a Kimber Micro 9 in the console

I did not notice, for some reason, that my answer of 358 did not include the full designation, 358 MGP, which is the necked up, blown out 6.8 SPC. My setup includes three 10 round magazines. I own two of these setups including one with night sights. Very similar to having an AR-15 in 358 Win., you shoot something, it stays shot.

I'm not one to keep a firearm in the vehicle, but of course I'm always packing, so I'll say a Glock 45 with a TLR 7. Now, if I do take a long gun, it's normally an AR, either my pistol, or my SBR, both 10.5". I did have a Spanish Mauser fitted with a red dot to use as a truck gun, but I stole the red dot to put on my Lee Enfield, so it will get the scout scope now.
Probably the best thing I have for general purpose truck gun use at the moment is my Rossi 92 in .44 mag, also with a red dot. I built it as a "Jeep gun", I just haven't taken it many places yet, because the Jeep it's for is still under construction.
