Lets see for hunting generals...hmm probably the 6.5. For larger game like elk on up I would use the 7-08 with heavier bullet offerings. In AK it's go big or go home isn't it?

If I were hunting in Alaska it would be .7-08. If I were just poking holes in paper at long distances it would the 6.5 Creedmore. Although I know the Creedmore has the capabilities to kill and there are good bullets for doing it. The other option would be the .260 but probably not in Alaska.

Gotta side with KWG, here. For alaskan hunting, with the possibility of running into something that could maul/eat me, I want energy and bullet weight, as much as I can tolerate.
If bear are in the area, 375 H&H is not out of the question.......
kwg020 and curt mini14 like this.

if I were hunting in Alaska it would be with a .30/378 Wby Mag.......just on the outside chance that it flips and i'm the hunted, not the hunter.

If you ain’t 1200 pounds and 10 ft tall, you are prey. Carry a 7-08 or a 6.5 C and let me know how that works out for you. Suggest you practice running real fast and climbing trees very quickly. I will no doubt read about it in an outdoor story, like man mauled by POed brown bear that ate his mouse gun.
