1860 Uberti Henry

Hi, new shooter here from England UK, Just bought the rifle second hand and thereís a slight problem with the magazine tube, it sometimes gets a cartridge stuck about 4Ē from the loading hole. Other times I can load all 10 no problem, I reckon it must have taken a knock at some point though there is no visual sign.
I have tried rubbing using emery paper On a dowel to no avail, hard to shave anything off hardened steel.

Any ideas what to do next? What would you do?

Completely disassemble check for burrs rough spots or any other noticeable
scoring mark on the inside of the receiver.
Remove all dirt and other deposits.
Check all springs for proper tension, check tube spring cup for burrs.
Check tube spring for cracks, breaks or bent areas.
Make sure spring is longer then tube by at least 3 inches or 75mm.
Spring maybe coming out of the cup if spring is not long enough.
Something inside the receiver is loose and blocking the cartridge on insertion.
I have never owned a 1860 Uberti Henry, but have owned and worked on many different lever actions Winchester, Marlin and Henry.

flat nosed ammo?

I know people will scream DON'T DO IT but try a tube or 2 of round nosed lead bullets in it.

maybe I havenít made myself clear, I took off the sight and front section that swivels so I can better access to the loading entrance, took the spring out and then loaded . Most go all the way down to the plug but some get hung up around 4Ē in from the top. There must be a slight protrusion in the mag tube wall but nothing that can be seen.?

Yes 44-40 flat nosed lead. But itís not the head that gets jammed as itís narrower than the primer end rim, itís there that the jam is?

if it's truly in your tube, chuck up a handle-less cleaning rod in your drill, add a tight fitting bronze brush laced with steel wool....and spend some time polishing the inside of the tube.
then thoroughly strip-clean the rifle and try feeding rounds.

are these factory new bullets or reloads ?
