Winchester or Uberti?

I have been blessed with some extra gun money. I've decided to get a 1873 Winchester. I want the 24" rifle version with color case receiver. I will be getting one in .46 LC so it will match my SAA revolver.

I'm trying to decide between a Uberti (including Cimarron's and Taylor's) and a current manufactured Winchester.

I know Winchesters are made in Japan, but that don't bother me, since the Uberti would be Italian made. I would like the Winchester name, but their satin wood finish almost looks unfinished.

Before I plop down $1100-$1300 I would like hear other opinions. Right now I'm leaning strongly towards the Uberti. I own several Uberti revolvers, and I have been happy with their quality.

i'm not sure Winchester offers a CCH model , but my 20" blued .357/.38 sure is a shooter!
and the internals are slick as glass

Ubertis are great guns.....but the Miroku Japan guns are from the same factory that makes Browning too..............

Buds has Winchesters with CCH receivers. They only have the .45 LC short rifle in stock. Its $1400. I could compromise on barrel length if I decide to go for the Winchester.

I believe the Winchesters have rebounding hammers. That would be a turnoff for me.

I went the Uberti Route and couldn't be happier. Got the nice long rifle with the case colored receiver. Only issue was the goo like coating they put on the internal parts to keep rust a bay. Simple take apart and clean fixed that. Had it for a few years now and it is buttery smooth.

I ordered a Uberti this morning from Buds. I watched a lot of reviews about the current Winchesters, and although the reviews were good, I did not like the look of the satin finished furniture. I also did not like the Barrel markings.

I took advantage of Bud's "cash price", which means I paid with an e-check. Doing so meant Bud's waited five days for the transaction to clear. My order moved to shipping last Friday, which means my rifle should be here this week! I can't wait. Note to self; Next time, pay with your debit card, and pay the higher price, so they will ship faster!

Received my 1873 today. Very happy with it. It did get a small dent in the forearm during shipping. Hopefully I'll be able to steam it out. Here is a quick pick of the rifle along with my Uberti pistol.
