Had a sleep-study today......

I sleep 8-9 hrs a day, never feel tired/sleepy, fall asleep when my head hits the pillow.......so I was incredulous when my Dr ordered a sleep study because my Wife told him I snore.
WELL
They had to wake me halfway into it to put me on a CPAP because on AVERAGE I stop breathing 95 times an hour.

Once I was hooked up to the machine, that dropped to an average of 1.5 times an hour.

anyone else here use a CPAP?

Would rather die than use a CPAP...Check out INSPIRE...

I have good nights (without INSPIRE) and bad nights, but I mostly sleep on my stomach or side - seldom on my back (which is the most common sleep-apnea position). I toss-and-turn sometimes because of hot flashes, and always have a fan blowing directly on me: during hot flashes (meds) I mostly uncover, then back to curling up under an electric blanket after the hot-flashes pass.

Regardless of when I get to bed (usually about 1800), I'm almost always up seven hours later and give up trying to sleep. Today was 0120...It is notable when I sleep much beyond seven hours. A few days ago, I slept-in to 0430 - a record!

I would get ZERO sleep in a sleep-study unless hey provided a fan and an electric blanket...

Don't use doctors or Cpap.

My first wife used to wake me up because I'd stop breathing at night, same for a couple girlfriends, it really freaked one out in fact, she wanted me to go to a doctor, but I wouldn't. That was more'n 25 years ago, I'm still here by the grace of God.... and to the chagrin of liberals everywhere...

I know a lot of people that went for sleep studies and subsequently got a CPAP. Not a one of them stayed on a CPAP long term because they are a PITA. Rather they made lifestyle changes like losing weight, quitting smoking, reduced alcohol, etc.

I wasn't bothered at all by the nose-cone style the tech threw on me .....and my Wife already has the "So-Clean" device that sterilizes the rig daily preventing illnesses.
She swears that using hers has made her feel 20 years younger !

my life is finally swell enough that for the 1st time in 20 years i'd actually prefer not to die in my sleep, yet. (like several members of my family have done....for no visible reason....usually younger than I am NOW)

crazy as it sounds, throwing a leg over my Geezer Glide (Harley) almost every day & night....has helped me turn the corner from terrible depression, to really looking forward to every day !

i've only had it for 2 "nights" (days) and have logged 7.9 & 8.3 hours of PERFECT sleep with it.......maybe i'm abnormal but I LOVE the fresh, cool, humidified air it supplies.
I sleep so peacefully now that my wife has had to put her hand on my chest to make sure i'm breathing.

I had a similar case. I started CPAP 13 years ago. At first I didn’t like it but then it was not a problem. It sort of like using seat belts. You don’t really like them but they do work and you get use to them. Before using CPAP I use to get colds and had sinus issues all the time? Not any more. The “filtered and humidified” air fixed the sinus issues. I also never bought a cleaner or wash the hose out each morning in the last 13 years. I just got new ones as recommended by my medical provider and paid for by my insurance. Good luck, you’ll feel better.
