Ten round mags

Having some issues where I can only load eight rounds in my Magpul ten round mags to have the gun feed properly. Canít load nine or ten on a closed bolt. Even loading on occasion a loaded ten round on an open bolt having feed issues.

Any suggestions on ten round mags other than Magpul?

I did that. They said I would probably have to run 8 rounds. They also said trim the springs but that would allow 11 rounds and if caught 3 years mandatory prison.

Try C-Products mags, or perhaps ASC.
3 years in prison for having 11 rounds in a mag? No offense, but where do you live?
Regardless, MOVE!
Better yet, remove those legislators from office that allowed this monstrosity of constitutional freedoms, and install new legislators.
That's what our founders would have done....

That's rough. Have you let then sit loaded fully to ten rounds for a month or so? Maybe it will loosen things up a hair and give you a better fit.

I have them loaded with ten. Called magpul and they said it wouldnít make much difference. Guess I just load them with 8 for now and shoot my mini 14 instead.

No mag limits in VA. They wisely backed off on that.

Lucky you. We had just about every AR or AK platform banned on 2013. Even shotguns that could accept an detachable mag and had one scary feature.

Sucks.

Where I live, That would result in armed revolt, and the installation of new gov. officials.

Try a Hex Mag you can buy a 30-10 for twelve dollars. I am taking my AR that I built to the range for the first time tomorrow. I have a gen3 P-Mag I will let you know how it works in my AR and I have Hex Mag on the way. Don't give up we have had a gun ban here in Ca for twenty years we have won every court case to date. Our Mag ban was overturned and is on appeal. There is a good chance that our AW ban will be overturned soon.

I tried my ten-round PMag out today mine is the same as yours I can only put eight in the magazine and load it with the bolt closed. I have to load mine with the bolt closed because I have a Juggernaut mag lock. The first time I pulled the bolt back with an empty magazine to my surprise the bolt locked back. At first, I thought what the hell do the maglock eliminates the bolt release. I removed the mag floor plate and pulled the follower down to release the bolt. I ended up filing the back of the follower at an angle. It does not hold the bolt open after the last round is fired. At least I get to keep my pistol grip and an adjustable stock.

Thanks so at least my theory was correct. I will load right rounds and look for different ten round mags. Maybe try the Stag mags or something different.

I looked at those and they look pined. Make me a cautious when using pinned mags I have heard people getting busted with those. Sucks to live in CT.

My hex mags came in today. The 10/30 Hex is easier to put shells in. When putting the hex Mag in with ten rounds you can't just push the mag in but if you give it a little bump with your hand it will lock up with the bolt closed. I tried the same thing with the PMag with ten rounds and it locked up as well. So I guess you have to get a little rough with it. In my case, My mags and AR are new maybe they need to break-in a little.

Update, I modded two magpul thirty round, one Hex 10/30, and one Magpul ten-round magazines for my son in law. I had to file the back of the follower so the bolt won't lock up when the magazine is empty. I tried opening the square opening the back of the magazine and it worked it was a lot easier to get fully loaded magazines in with the bolt closed.

Modify the springs on the 8 rd mags to easily load 10 or 12 rds with 100 % function and then jbweld a block of something to the bottom of the follower to limit its movement to allow only 10 and 1/4 rds to fit. You’ll be 100% legal and able to close your bolt on 10 rds in your mag. Not worth getting into trouble over nothing.

Glad to hear, but for anyone else looking for recommendations on 10 rounders, I run ASCs, CPDs, e-landers & OKAY/Surefeed 10 rounders, mostly in my Ruger Ranch bolt action but they’ve gotten a lot of use in multiple ARs as well.
The OKAYs are 10 rounders but the size of a GI straight 20. They have a short metal body about the size of any other 10 rounder with a plastic extension that acts as the base plate and allows the legs of the follower to travel past the metal body into the extension. Assuming they did this setup so it can use a std. GI follower. And fit in a regular GI straight 20 mag pouch.
The e-landers are much heavier gauge steel but don’t have as much free play as the OKAYs, they still fit & drop free in my PSA, Anderson & RRA lowers. Very strong springs but that last round can be tight til they get some use.
CPDs have a nice slick Teflon finish and feed the smoothest. I can feel that both from unloading by hand and by cycling my Ruger Ranch.
