Hey there , merry thanks givin. I have a queston to all you WW2 Buffs. I was watching Windtalkers the other day. And In the very first scene, Joe was sporting a Tompson, with a drum magzine. Did the Marines use the gangster style Tompson at all? Just wonderin.

It wasn't an issue weapon, but some marines purchased Tommy guns on their own to use in combat.

If one had their "very own" weapon I wonder if they let them take them home after the war was over ... After all ... It was theirs right?

Course too ... theres always that Hollywood -vs- Reality ...

They would have kept them, as they purchased them on their own. They didn't purchase them through the USMC, they just bought them like we'd buy a bb gun today.

It was still legal to own fully automatic weapons without having an extremely expensive permit in those days.
