I have a couple, but never used them. They look and feel "CHEAP",they are also very light(as in don't weigh much),the springs are shorter than either 30rd dedicated mag,the spring tension is very light also(was'nt sure if it would feed reliably).

AGAIN I did'nt try them,mostly cause I did'nt think they'd work!

I have 5 and posted in Magazine talk with the mods I did, they appear to function well manually but only a trip to the range will tell, it's rained a monsoon here and I won't get there for awhile. They do feel cheap, the springs are light and the followers have rough edges. I keep them strictly to play with at the range, nothing serious. I didn't pay much for them years ago, and if they work they work...? I personally wouldn't invest in anymore. Your idea is sound, but for that kind of money you should probably stick to steel mags from a good maker.

I bought some 10 rd Ramline plastic mags for my Model 4 Rem. One cracked & broke, and the other would swell when loaded, and would jamb every 2 rds. I thru them away.

BTW, I'm moving this thred to the mag. section.

treedawg, one of the last gun shows I attended they had 30 round Ramlines in the bag for $20. That was just before I made the wallet lightening stop at the Bushmaster guy. Tried it out the other day worked OK in the Mini, but didnt try it in the Bushy.

By cheap, what do you mean is it the plastic they are using now? The newer M4 Carbine is using them for the light weight and since i own a M4 they are pretty durable and i haven't had probs with the durability.

Ive used the plastic Ram Line mags and found them to be fine for plinking, but not reliable enough for anything serious. Also.....dont load em up and leave em that way for long, the springs lose their strength pretty fast that way. $39.00 sounds high for these mags too.

Same thing here. If they made the magazines from a tougher polymer rather than the clear plastic, they would work great and would be more durable.
I got one before the 1994 ban expired and it works well in a Mini-14. I tried it in my friend's AR and it also worked in it.

I went on Ram Line's website and it said that no magazines have been made since 1994. They are making stocks for different rifles. Too bad they don't make magazines anymore.

Well since it's been resurrected... I still have one of those mags made in about 1988 I believe. I bought it to use in a friends Mini-14 I was borrowing when I was thinking of buying a Mini-14. I bought an early 189 Series Mini-30 instead and the rest is history.

The Ram-Line mag (Model MAC 1530) still looks new and functioned perfectly in that old Mini-14. Not sure how long it would hold up with time and use, but it did work then. I keep it around as a souvenir though I don't own any Mini-14s or AR-15s.

I had a couple, and after testing them with AR-15 and Mini-14 eventually sold them for a considerable profit to a collector.

They functioned all right, but the plastic was, IIRC, either smoked or clear, and so almost certainly did not have any reinforcing glass fibers, as do modern plastic mags.

They will probably work OK--at least for a while. Selling them to a collector, who will pay an appropriate premium for them, and then using the proceeds to buy longer-lasting mags would be my suggestion.

I had them back in the 80s and they worked flawlessly in my stainless 181 series Mini 14, my colt AR 15 SP1 and my Howa AR180 as they were designed to fit in all three different firearms. The problem with them was that the plastic was very Brittle and if you put them to any kind of serious use where the feed lips would be stressed in any way, such as in tapping the bottom vigorously to get them to lock in the rifle, the feed lips would crack or even just break off. Not something to bet your life on that's for sure.
