How accurate is a stock Ruger 10/22?

Just for grins, I shot a rifle match today. 22 rim fire at 75, 125, and 175 yards. Used a completely stock Ruger 10/22 with regular factory ammo and went up against a truck load of target grade and match grade rifles. Result: tied for 2nd - hit 28 out of 30 plates on a windy day. Miracles do happen.

Guess it's close to the time when I'll be upgrading to a better barrel?, stock?, trigger assembly?, and bipod?? You guys ever get the feeling that upgrades could be a major mistake, haha.

Thats good shooten there guy! If you are happy with your 10/22, I'd leave it as is, but I don't think tuning, or modifying, a stock ruger is a mistake if it improves the accuracy. If you can shoot 1 1/2" groups consistantly at 50 yds, with the std. barrel you are better than most. Where as a match barrel, you could be shooten .5" groups (using a bench rest). Maby you are better at reading, the wind than the others were, its a good skill to have. Try it again on a still day, and see what happens.
I must warn ya, once you start modifying, your 10/22 its hard to stop, it's addictive!!!:D
