Im just wondering why the rod is steel and not aluminum. Seems you could lose close to an ounce of weight by switching.

We actually did offer the option of an aluminum rod a few years ago, and you're right, it did function very well for heat dissipation. The only problem was...no one bought them. We sold only a very few of them. Now, all of our rods are stainless steel, even those that are finished in satin black...
