Here in Nebraska, we have a state senator who seems every year to single-handedly nix the CCW bill when it comes around. In Texas, it seems that a minority of legislators who did'nt like what was happening just took off and left the state so that nothing could get done! Some people got together and decided that "founding fathers" "blind" and even the Pledge of Alllegiance was too contriversiol for our schools. Now the Dumb_ss Demos can't even remember what cost them the majority in the legislator 10yrs ago,and they are bringing up the AW Ban Renewal! Heck,Pres.Bush seems to forget where he came from all of a sudden!
Is it just me, or does it seem like just a few people are dictating how all the rest of us are supposed to live, talk, act and think? And so far, they've been pretty successfull!! I think alot of us (around here) are basically alike: We don't bother others,as long as they don't bother us. We don't try to push our beliefs on others, and we appreciate others showing us the same courtesy. Well fellas, that stratagy is NOT working any more, and I think we might just have to get off our butts and do somthing about the direction our country is heading. Join the NRA. Write your Congressman. Let the people who make the rules know that the MAJORITY rules! You don't have to walk the street with a giant poster of a dead fetus, like the nutcases. Just make sure you are heard by those in power. If all gun owners would let our congresspeople know that we ARE paying attention, maybe they would'nt bow to the vocal few. I know I'm not gonna take my freedom as lightly anymore, because every time I turn around it's dissapearing! Maybe I've watched too much "O'riely factor" lately! What do ya think?

You are correct, at least in my opinon. There are a few causes for this:

1) voter apathy and a feeling that your voice doesn't matter. Quess what? If you don't bother to use it, it doesn't.

2) The artificial two party system. G. Washington thought that political parties were bad for democracy, and guess what? They are. The parties are full of career politicians who are out of touch with the general public. Most people won't vote for an independant or a small party candidate because they don't want to "waste their vote." As long as people think like that, they will be wasting their vote. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans are interested in your right to bear arms, they will only give you as little as possible to make you think they are pro-gun owner. While the Republicans are generally better than the Democrats on not starting new restrictive legislation, when have they passed a bill to eliminate a restriction already in place? Voting in an independant who's been a doctor, soldier, police man, construction worker, etc. might give some perspective to the government.

Veterans used to occupy many more political offices than they do today. The difference between a veteran and a career politician is that the veteran has proven that he will put his country's good before his personal good. A career politician has usually proven the opposite. Now politics is a potentially lucrative career choice, not something you do for a few terms to serve the public.

On a side note, I prefer the GOA to the NRA. The NRA is too ready to compromise on things that don't need any compromising.

Stress the word "artificial". We the "sheeple" are being herded by way of fear by those in power. There living depends on the abuse of law.

Want to be wealthy? Violate some gun rights.

Need a little more? Attempt to restrict the freedom of speech.

If only the government would profile itself, but dont hold your air.
