I saw Mr. Malik Zulu Shabazz, New Black Panther spokesman on FOX news today regarding the Moussaui (spelling?) attempt to enter a guilty plea in court today. Nevermind they are defending a scumbag who has admitted his role in 9/11. There is one thing about the NBP I can't get a handle on. Maybe you can help.

Here in Texas, everytime the NBP are at any event, they have guys walking around in black fatigues with SKS rifles sans the clips and shotguns. Where do they get their permits to do this and how do I get one?

I am no fan of the klan but how come they can't brandish guns at demonstrations? If anyone can help me find out more about these permits I would appreciate it. I mean after all the New Black Panthers do have permits don't they? Surely they wouldn't be able to march in Public places with firearms waving around without a permit would they?

Thanks

I read about one of their protests, and the press report commented that the local police recognized their right to have firearms for self-protection. The press report said that Mooshhead (spelling?) claimed the shotguns and rifles were for self-protection and they weren't loaded anyway.

They didn't have any other permit than the Second Amendment.

From the subtle tone of the police response, I don't remember the words, but I remember the tone, they were flat out scared to challege the Black Panthers.

You call it whatever you like. I call it racism in favor of the black panthers.

Probably don't need to have a permit to openly carry a firearm in a public area in Texas. I wonder how useful these guns are for self-defense when they are unloaded? Just to attract attention, I think, and make a statement.

An SKS might make a wicked club while unloaded...

A louisville slugger would probably be better, cheaper, and less likely to draw a sniper's attention, however.

I believe that it is legal to open carry longarms in Tx. I seem to recall an execution that the nbp and the klan were demonstrating at, and I think both groups were armed. No problems arose. Just goes to show, an armed society is a polite society (or neither groups wanted to bleed for their rhetoric, whatever). Stay safe.

I have been in riots (as a victom of being in the wrong place at the wrong time), and have seen demonstrations. It is usually the big mouths that disrespect people till things get out of hand. The presence of arms in a controled, and non threatning mannor is usuall enough to subdue the big mouths, so no one is disrespected, and things run smoother.

From what I now understand, Texas law does not forbid the brandishing of a long arm. As long as it's open season for all I am okay with it. Thanks for setting the record straight.

Will Beararms,
When I talk to anyone about the right to bear arms, gunowners or not, I always say "The only permit you need is the US Constitution." I believe that.

At the same time, I can't afford to be the "test case" to Kalifornia law. I have the attitude but I don't have the money. And I don't believe in reincarnation. I won't be coming back to try it all over again.

So, I say, to each of us that believes in freedom, do not compromise our gun rights at the ballot box. Do not compromise in social conversation, or the soap box. Do not compromise if you serve in a jury box. As a juror, you must act on Constitutional principles, and the lawyers and judges be damned otherwise!

We have to stand for our civil rights, especially the Right To Keep And Bear Arms.

And the fourth box of freedom is the ammo box.

You know those NBP's, provided they are law-abiding have just as much right as we do to keep and bear arms.

I agree with your post. The thing is I am really having a hard time about even voting at all any more. You have your democrats and I don't even need to go there.

Then we have our Republicans and good old George waving the Christian flag while we he is letting some of the greatest criminals this world has ever known walk. Ken Lay and Andrew Fastow and others of Enron lied, cheated and decieved millions through criminal acts so they could walk away with fortunes. Bernie Ebbers and his cohorts did the same thing. The end result is we have people now facing retirement or who are in retirement who are penniless. These good folks worked hard all their lives and believed the lies they were told under the so-called backing of the SEC.

Yeah I know Bush busted the Rigas family who owned Adelphia Cable yesterday. That's truly laughable when you consider the magnitude of their misdeeds against those big Republican contributors at Enron and World Com.

So you see I really don't believe our constitution is protected by either party. Do I need to mention Bush's desire to review the Posse Comitatus stautes?

Oh and by the way, I am a Born Again Christian for the record but I figure actions are the true measure of a man.

Thanks Will Beararms for your sentiments. This thread should probably start again in the politics forum. But I will tie this to the mini-14.

I truly understand your disappaointment in GW. He ran as a "Compassionate Conservative". Well, I didn't think compassion meant throwing more taxpayer money out to buy votes. To me, compassion means sharing the capitalist dream so that each individual can do more for themselves and their families. A handout from GW creates more dependency on the government and discourages self-fulfillment.

OK, about my gun rights. GW signed a concealed-carry bill for Texas. In the beginning, his administration gave us hope that the federal agencies might acknowledge our civil right to keep and bear arms. Then GW came out not in favor of arming pilots, even in the face of terrorist threats. Now, just this week, reports are coming out that "the administration" is reconsidering arming pilots. That could be a big shift in favor of our civil rights because pilots are civilians. They are certainly subject to federal law every second of their lives, but still they are civilians. So finally, maybe the feds are willing to arm pilots, even in a highly publicized environment.

Now, specifically about state gun laws. We have to be involved on a daily basis in our government. The communists are, so we have to be there also. They are there everyday at the State capital building, visiting legislators and senators, to take another small ***** out of the armor of freedom. One small ***** everyday, year in and year out, takes a big bite out of freedom.

That's how Kalifornia lost the right to Keep and Bear Arms. The politicians saw the socialists face-to-face and believed that they were their constituency. They only heard from conservatives when a particular bill was so overreaching that it actually got some publicity on conservative media outlets. And then the outrage was not severe enough to convince them that all those nice socialists were not the majority of their constituency.

That's how we lost our gun rights. Next year, Kalifornia will advance further. They will take more freedoms away. They will add more gun laws. They will outlaw the mini-14.

Unless we start visiting their offices in Sacramento. And keep track of voting records. And vote on the single issue of gun rights. The situation is desperate.

Get involved or take a high-quality picture of your mini-14. Next year you'll have to turn it over to the police, and the picture is all you'll have.

I know a few guys who were sniper's for the sheriffs department during those little movements, and they say you probably don't want to be the guy walking with the SKS, they are always the first to go...

But its actually legal here in Texas to have a loaded longarm in the open view. Not handguns though, they have to be concealed and you have to have a special permit.
