I have a Tactical Mini 14 & would like to know what rail stock you are using when in stalling them on your polymer stock.
I have seen them mounted on the bottom and each side.
Any rail that suits your fancy will work as long as it comes with the screws and flat mounting nuts...
on my mini 30 standard polymer stock for my AFG front grip I used this:http://www.midwayusa.com/product/73...h-mounting-hardware-universal-6-polymer-black

just make sure you measure thrice and drill once

I found that taping the rail to the stock with painters tape after getting it aligned properly then scribing my drill points with a hot nail to give the bit a precise bite point worked well.

headedtotexas - you have my dream Mini! A sling and a quickly detachable red dot would be all I'd add. Love the Tactical in the wood stock.

Sorry to veer off the intended subject of this thread! :D

Magpul makes some good Picatinny rails. There is three or four different sizes you can get. I have a small Magpul rail on the left side of my Mini and a long Promag rail on the bottom (gun store didn't have a long Magpul rail at the time of purchase). They are super easy to install.

I like Magpul rails, because they use a plate for the screw to go in to, insted of a nut. secure's the rail a little better I think.

Thanks Q. I don't recall why the sling was off for that photo. It usually wears a 1 1/4" GI cotton web sling. The Aimpoint 9000SC is calling to me, but at four times the price of a Bushnell TRS-25, I'll probably go with the Bushnell.

I picked up a Magpul Moe 11 slot rail and installed it.
I was going to get a Magpul AFG but my LGS was out of black.
So, maybe for the better.
I have a Rainer Arms hand stop that is used to prevent the operators hand from sliding in front of the muzzle.
I installed it backwards and pulled it toward the back of the rail.
I can still wrap my hand under the stock, securely grip it, and pull rearward against the hand stop.
If I get comfortable with it on my Mini I may get another for my AR...short money around $8-$10.
