First off let me just say hi. I'm new here.

I was recently reading an article on the 5.56 round and it said that it's not the same as .223. The 5.56 round is intended for military rifles and due higher pressure should not be used in rifles stamped with .223.

Dimensionally, 5.56 and .223 ammo are identical, though military 5.56 ammo is typically loaded to higher pressures and velocities than commercial ammo and may, in guns with extremely tight "match" .223 chambers, be unsafe to fire.
So is it not safe to use 5.56? I've never had trouble firing it out of my Mini 14 GB.
