I got my Weigland scope rail on and the accu-strut came in so I went and flung some lead at a round circle thing and here is what I got.
This is a mini-30 581 series gun, straight barrel. I don't have a muzzle brake yet which is my last thing to add when somebody makes the one that I want. I may have to get creative on that unfortunately.
I don't plan to have a trigger job done. I like it the way it is. This target perhaps bears some explaining. I had already shot 10 or so .22's through it in the 2 inch circle so I just re-used it for the 7.62's. I figured I could see the bullet size difference. These were all shot at 6x at 100 yards on the range bag at the bench. I only use the sled for dialing in a scope.
The first 7.62 group is in the middle 2" circle and those were Tula hollow points which have always been a bit loose but shoot fine. That one off by itself is either a flyer or I pulled it. Most likely I pulled it. Even still, it was a decent less than 2 inch group. All the 7.62's in that group are at center and some left.
The 10 shot group up top is my third group and those were the Golden Bears. This is the first time I have shot those. I was still aiming at the eye of the bull so these are sailing significantly higher than the Tulas. The Golden Bear's were not hollow points. Hard to believe it made that much difference but there it is. Doesn't seem like 2396 for the hollow points versus 2430 for the hard points would make that much difference. I might expect an inch is all. I guess I will need to go shoot another target and see if this repeats in which case I can dial down my scope.
(note: I am not saying your gun will shoot this sort of pattern with Golden Bears. Only that mine did on this one outing.).
Shots were as fast as acquire and fire could be done. I don't think there is any other way to really shoot a carbine rifle anyways since that is what they were made for. There was a bit of gusting wind around but nothing serious.
I think I am about ready to go find a Bambi.
