I have written more articles for AllOutdoor about the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation than anything else. The organization seems to constantly push toward its conservation goals. Well, yet again, they’ve raised a large amount of money to protect our natural resources, this time in the Evergreen State. Making sure Washington receives its fair share, the RMEF and its partners have granted the state $1,900,848.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation directly donated $215,712 to the cause. Using this money, the 23 RMEF chapters in Washington were able to wrangle up an additional $1,685,136. These grants directly fund research and conservation for almost 15,000 acres of Washington’s elk country. Spread among 11 projects, the funding will aid habitats in Asotin, Chelan, Columbia, Cowlitz, Ferry, Garfield, Grays Harbor, Kittitas, Skamania, and Yakima Counties. Four statewide projects are also on the docket. There are more than 14,000 RMEF members in the state. Thanks to these members and volunteers, local elk and other wildlife will continue to thrive, and these lands will be more conducive to outdoor recreation.
