When shooting my 40rd it holds the bolt open on a full mag shoot a few rounds and the bolt is open WTF? so you just pull back the bolt let it go and then you can get off a few shots then it does it again.

any ideas?

when yo load 20 rnds. in it does it still hang up? or is it only when the mag is loaded near capacity? I have some old Scherer 40 rnd mags I had to use a jizz wheel on and open up between the feed lips. You may want to install a Wolff extra power recoil spring first. Some of the PMI 40's when new and loaded up near capacity will also hang up until you get down to 34-35 rnds. Just make sure it's not something else before removing material from the mag. If someone else you shoot with has a Mini you may want to let them try the mag and see if it acts the same in there rifle. By the way what brand magazine is it?

Yeah it does it even when its half loaded, I think they are called westerns??. What I don't understand is why it stays open? the other mags I have seem too work pretty good so I don't think its the gun.

If you compare the 40rnder to your other mags, look at the back locking tab. Is the distance between the top edge of the feed lips and the BOTTOM edge of the locking tab different? I'm thinking that maybe because of the position of the locking tab, the mag sticks too far into the mag well, which could result in the bolt getting hung up on the lips or the edge of the feed 'mouth'. Also check to see if your bolt locking lever is engaged when you have this problem.

You know how the rounds are staggered side-to-side when you load them into a clip? Look to see whether the top round is on the left or right when this happens. The bolt may be getting hung up on that top round.

Troubleshooting it might be simple once we have a good list of symptoms.

Ok after the recommendations too look at the mags the malfunctioning 40rdr is seating higher then the other 40 and the other hi caps so I was thinking of grinding off a little bit off of the rear locking tab hoping it would lock in lower, what do you all think?
