Recently, I read an article where the author cited a report on the top five rifle cartridges sold in 2008. He stated the numbers seem to be consistent from year to year.

The report included the top three companies; Remington, Winchester and Federal. Care to guess which ones they are and how they ranked?

One point to edit; centerfire cartridges only.

I'll give you #5... .243 Win.

As a former gun shop owner, these were my best sellers and probably pretty close to actual figures: 1. .30-06, 2. .223 Rem, 3. 7MM Mag, 4. .30-30 Win, 5. .308 Win/.243 Win...................Dick;)

Considering the report was on U.S. commercial mfr's. I'd agree with most of the calibers posted. If it were to include Kommie ammo sources, I'd go with 7.62 X 39 and maybe X54R. I know I've personally bought far more of those two rifle calibers over the years than any other I shoot.

Soooooooooooo............

What was the lineup on that report, now that guesses have been made?

Just saw this thread,

and although it's 6 months old, inquiring minds want to know?

But where is Devil Doc? Hasn't posted since November! "Is anybody out there?"

at any rate I'll play,

1. 30-30
2. 30-06
3. .270
4. .223
5. .243 (although I prefer 6mm:>)
