I have yet so find a beeter gun tahn a ruger 10/22 topped with good optics for picking the litttle buggers out of the tree tops. Where I live, the squirrels outnimber the mosquitoes some seasons and it isn't unusual to limit out every day out. (would be nice if the Mississippi Greys was big as Ilinois Fox though, good eating those reds') I can pick a chigger off a gnat with the one I have. A wide akge scope is a definate advantage in the tree tops. My favorite hunting methode is sitting back in an oak grove , hilltop and bringing a few refreshments along to make the day more enjoyable. Camo isn't a must but it helps. I'm trying to raise a ratt terrier pup riht now, maybe a future hunting buddy. Wuth a gun likr the accurate 10/22 he'll get plenty of squirreltails to practice wth this fall. have a good one.

Welcome to the forum TheMixedGamebag Man. I'm finishing my hunten gun (see my hunter in the gallery) Haven't decided on the scope yet. What kinda scope do you have? I have a 6-24x42 on my target 10/22, but its a little big to hunt with.

Your right about the greys being smaller than the reds. I used to live in colorado, you talken small, I shot a piney squirrel once with my 10/22. It was smaller than your fist, and there was no meat on it. The tail was so scrawney, it wasn't fit to be on any man's lodge pole.

Now we have swamp rabbits here, their as big as a jackrabit, but big & fat. I will get one when my Hunter 10/22 is done. That should be some good eats.
Flak, those are nutra rats. There as big as a small dog. I had one in my back yard last year, by the time I got my camera, he had got thru the fence, and into the woods. I couldn't shoot as I live in town, but have woods out back.

I ran across a "Bolt Lock Mod" for the 10/22, about 6 months ago. I thought I saved the link, but not. See If I can round it up for ya. It makes the 10/22 a bolt action, which improves performance of the CB's, and Colbri's.
Flak, I found the link, but can't post it, as it is a site that turns the 10/22 into a class 3 machine gun. The bolt lock is a bolt mod to temorarily lock the bolt between rounds to prevent bolt bounce, as well as a selector switch in the trigger group for full auto. It is a legal issue, and I don't believe it would be of value with the CB's. Sorry bout that.
