Diligentia---The standard Mini wasn't designed with optical sights in mind. Therefore it tends to eject up & forward. There are mounts available to mount scopes but you can't alter the way the rifle ejects the spent cases. Ruger seen people wanted the ability to use a scope on the Mini so they came out with the Ranch rifle. It has bases machined into the receiver & forcefully ejects the spent cases to the right, in some cases sixty feet or more. There is no real difference in either models accuracy unless you have old eyes like mine & have a hardtime using open sights. Oh & the Ranch rifle comes with one inch rings as well.
Good shooting
