i was looking for a blued steel handguard. but i thought my only option was deltaforce. i tried searching for federal ordinance on the web but couldn't find a site that looks like what i expected.

flak2, could you elaborate? how do i find federal ordinance?

We've had a couple of unfavorable posts on Delta Force. Also they won't give you your money back, but credit so you have ta buy something else from them.

once in awhile they pop up on the firearms auction sites. Gun Broker, Auction Arms, Guns America.

i'd have to go back through the posts to find it, but one observant gentleman pointed out that the handguards made of plastic were more of an insulator where as the steel ones conducted the heat away from the barrel. note that the m-14 m1a have steel handguard although unvented.

does anyone know who manufactures these handguards?

I bought the one from Delta Force - (it's not stainless, by the way, it's nickle plate and does not match my stainless very well) and it came scratched and scuffed, when I called they said they would replace it but that they get that way from storage and mailing and the chances were good that the next would look the same.

I looks great from a short distance away, though.

well, this is why i want to deal with somebody other than Deltaforce, and why i'd go straight to the maker if i could find them.

if i get one i actually want a blued one, but all this depends on how the thing dissipates heat. i keep looking at the vents in it and wondering if they're large enough to let a good breeze thru.

I put a hundred rounds of Wolf ammo through my mini in less than an hour indoors - I didn't put my hand directly on it right after firing but it cooled quickly afterward
