Easily Disinterested?

Back 47 years ago, I had 315 Government 1911s to keep watch over and got tired of them.
I guess it would have been much more interesting to have 315 of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children to keep watch over, but if you tired of the 1911's I'm sure you could have found someone to baby sit them.

Regardless of want or not, dont have a 1911, buy one! Nuff said.:2guns:
Do yourself a BIG favor, brother. Check out the Rock Island Armory line of fine handguns. You just cannot beat the quality for the price. In fact, it comes "stock" with many features that you would pay BIG bucks to have incorporated in the high-end 1911s.

RIA makes a bunch of parts for those high-end guns! Customer service is very good too.

mine is an ATI (also made by S.A.M. Phillipenes)and all it needed was a stronger recoil spring (Ed Brown 18#er) and a Wilson Combat extended slide release to be combat ready.

no rattles/shakes....good accuracy....and 100% reliability

for under $600 total.

All these ridiculous chest beating my dinky is larger or better than yours, yet not a single mention of a Maintenance log or Rounds between repairs. Like Dragnet, just the facts folks! JMHO.

I have an original service colt .45 pre-ww2 (about 1940 made) that some tinkering with has a good shooter.
also own a 625 mdl of '88 5" bbl that is good shooter.
much as I'm fond of them though if I KNEW I was going to a gunfight I'd carry my s&w 5904 9mm along with either my pump winny 1300 tactical, my mini30 or my marlin camp 9. both 9mm guns are set up for +P ammo. likely favor my shotty in town, mini out of town. marlin carbine for back-up or 'patrol car' gun.
'wish list'? well a new H-BAR AR10 or Springield M1a1 in '06. to replace my Mk4 #2 .303.

Taurus 1911 SS with rail - GREAT trigger pull! Hate rail (not gun's fault, wanted to try railed 1911, don't like them). So far no problems.

Shooter's Arms (SAM) bought from Century many years ago. BEST trigger pull I've seen on 1911 (yes, Ed Brown is just down road, what's your point?), form everyone who touched it had to sign off on, GREAT GUN!

Kimber Custom blued. JUNK. Works fine now, after COMPLETE work over, trigger job, reworking everything, replacing typical junk Kimber parts, etc. KImber MIGHT have tightened up the QC in the last few years, don't know. What I care about is what is put out out of the factory, not what they are willing to fix (sorta, sometimes, need to return several times) later.

Bersa Combat Thunder .380 Plus, with six mags. Only reason I have not gotten one before is availability of the mags. Love my EDC Combat Thunder .380 with 8+1, plus a 9-round spare mag for carrying. 15+1 plus a spare is intriguing...

Pretty well set otherwise, although a decent 18.5" barrel pump 12g would be nice...

Nice resurrection of an old post!

An M1 garand is something I do not have but would like to have. I have shot several and really enjoyed them. Problem is, I do not know enough about them.

I saw several at a gun show this weekend, priced from $1400 to over $2500. I don't know enough to know wether I would be getting my money's worth or ripped off.

Can't really think of anything else I don't have.

I'm in the same boat with wanting a piece of history. Just do the CMP shuffle for a good refurb. Price goes up as the groups get smaller. Then the collectors drive up rightfully so authentic rifles carried say on D-Day. I would not buy one at a gun show.
