SKS 10 rd Mag

What is it with original SKS 10 rd mags going for $60 or more now and they are not in stock? There must be 1000s of people out there who replaced the original with a 30 or 40rd mag and dont need the 10 rd anymore.

Russian import bans along with previous Chinese import bans are compounding the problem. People want the original mags back because of magazine capacity bans passing in several states the last few years... Which drives up demand.

I never understood the allure of replacing the 10 round magazine with higher capacity mags. It just makes a sleek, handy reliably feeding rifle into an overweight, unwieldy wannabe AK-47 with feeding issues.

Something must be wrong with your sks. None of mine have feeding problems with detachable mags.

Make that "SKSs" (plural). I got two at reduced prices from owners who had thrown away their 10 round mags for 30 rounders. They had problems and lost thier desire to own the rifles. I found 10 rounders, replaced them and had no problems.

The issue is usually the mag itself. Cheap detachable mags are bad, tapco was the one brand that always worked. A 16" barreled chicom in a tapco stock with tapco mags is a great tool. The duckbill actually helps me get quicker mag changes than an AK.

I prefer 10 round mags in my 30. have several, 2 Ruger 20s and 2 painted (National brand maybe - anyway the function fine) 30s. but handles best with the 10s.
