A general comment on silicone for those who have never tried it. When it first became generally available through automotive parts houses and other I tried useing it on guns that were stored.
A collection I had was stored over 20 years without additional care and there was no deterioration whatsoever--as opposed to oil which is good for only so long and must be redone. Some damage ocurred in the velvet lined cased sets as the silicon seemed to degrade the velvet--read that rotted due to some chemical reaction. Not harmful to wood.
For defense weapons oil can be a problem due to dust gathering, dirt, etc. Silicone dries and will lubricate and not hold dirt. Additionally it is pretty temperature tolerant.
Sprayed on door gaskets car doors will not freeze shut, same for garage door gaskets/seals--won't freeze to concrete.
Disclaimer: I do not brush my teeth with it nor do I have any financial interest.
Situational awarness buys you time to prepare!!
