US Army Basic Combat Infantry Training, Fort Gordon, Ga. Arrived Jan 5, 1968, departed 8 weeks later.
Issue weapon was the M14.
After AIT, went to a field artillery unit at Fort Carson, Co. Issue weapon was the M14.
I never even SAW an M16 until my POR training - Prior to Overseas Replacement.
Was issued an M16A1 in the sunny, tropical paradise of the Republic of South Vietnam.
Did my three years and took my happy ass home.

Left handed shoot, left eye dominate. I have zero problems using a mini 14. I am weird though since I shoot pistols right handed and long guns left handed lol.

Shoot pistols right-handed---shoot rifles left-handed---strongly left eye dominate---Mini 14s no problem---had several---no worries!
