I should be getting my Mini14 w/ my Shilen barrel conversion back this week, I have a Leupold 4.5-14x Tactical w/the Target Turrets ready to be put on this Prarie Dog Killer. My question is that I've read in other posts that scopes with Target Turrets don't work well on the Mini because the brass hits the turrets..is this true? This is a stock rifle with the exception of the new barrel. I really don't feel like experimenting with gas bushings to see where the brass falls either. Thanks.:sniper:

I couldn't tell you, but I have got a wacky idea for you. If the brass hit's the widage knob too much, rotate the scope 90 degrees. Windage becomes elevation, elevation becomes windage. But that might look even more corny than a dinged up scope? :p

yo doggy-dog what up? I had some screw-on turrets on my Leup. Vari-II and never had a problem with ejection contact. I have a mini-30 though and am not sure if that makes a difference. I have the Leup. rings on the traditional "ranch-style" mounts. Maybe a higher mounting platform might help if you do have a problem - I use a B-Sqaure style, extractor plate mounted, gizmo for my Aimpoint and that puppy sits up nice and high. get it - puppy? dogman? I kill myself hehehehe.

I believe you can get a deflecter to deal with the problem.

I don't have one,but I've read about them in other posts in the past. I know they are in use, because of the damage that can be caused by the direction of mini14 ejection, especially on aluminum mounts. I just don't know where people get them??!! I would'nt mind having one myself!

I know that CDNN sells AK/SKS deflecters for $3.99, and I've thought about getting one and seeing if it could be made to work on my mini.

Dogman, you didn't say if you had a std mini, or a Ranch mini. The ranch will launch the brass out the side so you shouldn't have a problem, whereas the std will lob them more upward due to a different ejector. You may be able to experiment with moving the scope fwd or rearward a bit, as most Leupolds have a longer eye relief. If that didn't work then I'd look for a deflector, or make one.
