Has anyone tried the mini 14 scope listed in Cabela's? (BEC 4x21mm.....I think.) Thanks

I was wondering if a shotgun type scope would work on my mini ranch. I have a new Simmons 3 to 9 x 40 that I could use. I have anyways used iron sights for hunting, consequently I know little optics. Any thoughts??? Thanks...
