if you are talking about the scope that mounts to the side of the receiver, then yes, ive tried it.

it sucked.

i suppose the scope itself isnt too bad for some cheap chinese junk (you dont need a whole lot if your gun shoots .223 and does 4 MOA). my issue was with the fact that it moved very easily. the Mini's shake scopes up pretty bad, and the one-bolt attatchment method isnt sufficient.

Bushnell makes a "Dusk til' Dawn" shorter 4X32 with circle X reticle that is "eye"deal for the Mini. It has great eye relief and for an $80.00 unit, it's very clear.

I had one on mine for a weekend, couldn't get it to stop wiggling so I took it off. Grouped decent until it moved. It lives in a box now.

I was wondering if a shotgun type scope would work on my mini ranch. I have a new Simmons 3 to 9 x 40 that I could use. I have anyways used iron sights for hunting, consequently I know little optics. Any thoughts??? Thanks...

This Bushnell I talked about was actually designed to be used on a shotgun but the parallax was the same as for a rifle scope. I like a 4X. They give you enough for close in shots and medium range targets as well without having to flip and fumble with power settings.

I put a 3-9x40mm leupold on mine. I leave it on 4x most of the time. It works for me

There have been several posts scattered about the forum about excessive recoil shaking scopes off the mini-14. The cure seems to be replacement of the gas bushing. I haven't needed to try it myself - my recoil isn't that bad. I bought mine used, maybe the previous owner already modified it.

I wouldn't discount a brand name just because it's cheap. Things Made in China get done for about $1 for a day's work. For the most part, the stuff from China seems to made well enough.


Now for my political message!

I stopped buying Made in China 2 years ago, when I finally realized that my dollars were going directly to the Chinese military.

My advise: After your dollar is spent, the damage is done, so don't throw things away. Just keep your Made in China stuff as a reminder. Inspect the next product before you send more dollars to our next Superpower adversary!
