I have a Series 188 Ranch rifle with factory scope mounts. I purchased a Tasco 6x24 1/8 moa Dot Target Scope with a 55mm objective. The factory mounts from Ruger are just a little too low (1/16" +/-) to allow scope mounting without contacting the barrel, which is factory configuration. As close as I can tell, the distance from the bottom of the factory mount to the bottom of the inside scope ring is about .425 " on my factory mount. Can someone recommend what height (and brand) of mount I need to mount this scope?

Hey mrd. For ring hight, normally you can use these product application charts: http://www.midwayusa.com/static.exe/getsta...page=charts.htm
However the ruger rings are not on a mount so I'm not shure the charts will work.

If you check out this site you will see Ruger High rings are limited to 52mm objective. http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp...20RANCH%20RIFLE

I would call Ruger to see what they recommend. Thats my story, and I'm sticken to it.

I milled the top of my barrel guard to install my scope....didn't want to buy new mounts or a new scope.

55mm objective will probably be touching the barrel, not just the plastic barrel guard.

Voruzon you may be right on a 55mm , mine is only a 40mm, I needed 1/16" plus, into the guard. Funny how Ruger says that you can install up to a 44mm with factory mounts, but you can't.
