If the factory installs a new barrel on an older Mini, does the Mini get a new profile barrel ? If so, can you choose the type ( stainless or regular ) or the length ( tactical or regular ) ?

Be prepared for the cost. I called several years ago and they wanted almost a new price of a rifle to put on a new barrel. kwg

If you want the Ruger stainless barrel you can get it here:

MINI-14® HEAVY CONTOUR BARREL | Brownells

Installation is not trivial, with headspace being the most significant aspect.

You will need the larger gasblock too: http://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...i-14-non-adjustable-gas-blocks-prod43812.aspx

If you want the older barrel you can get it here. Note that it may be used or removed from a rifle when the owner wanted a heavy barrel:

Thanks guys,
I saw the rebarrel thread further down, and the qoute for a factory rebarrel was about $200. Evidently that is not the case. Good to know which options exist.
May be less expensive to just cryo and accustrut than to rebarrel.

I have a 181 that I installed the Mo Rod and a Mo Reaper. She shoots real nice now. Groups stay together when she heats up. Im very happy with the results. The front sight with the mo reaper is a real improvement from the factory sight as well.
