I recently purchased a bunch of factory mini 14 magazines, both 20 and 30 round capacities. The 30 round magazines have the ruger name on the side of the housing and the emblem on the floorplate. The 20 round magazines have only the emblem on the floorplate. From what I've seen, this is typical of the factory magazines. I did find one discrepancy regarding one 20 round magazine. This magazine in particular is slightly longer than the 20 round magazine, but looks identical to the 30 round magazine housing, only shorter. The floorplate is plastic, and has two pins that hold it in place. I was told that this magazine was in fact a ruger magazine, but a government issued version. Does anyone have any information on these types of magazines?

Welcome to the forum evermore. I wish I had such a collection of good Ruger mags. I can't answer your question on the plastic bottom mag, except I find it strange a government issue being less than all metal.

BTW, I'm moving this thread to the Magazine section for a better fit.

Thanks alot guys!! On another forum, I was told that these magazines are in fact factory. These magazines were one of the first hi capacity magazines in production by Ruger, made especially for the AC556. Thanks again!!!!!
