I would like to hear everyones opinion on this gun? I bought one about 3 months ago, and havent had any feeding issues at all. It shoots FMJ as well as JHP. Anyone got any more info on the Remington 1911's?

A friend of mine was the armorer for the first production of the pistol. He shot everyone off the line about 9 times with a variety of ammo. He passed or failed them based on how they shot. After the first runs were sorted out he went on to other things. He works with the engineers on new projects. He kept a log of the serials that shot the best. He likes them.

I am now looking at the Remington R1. I have a brand new Taurus PT1911 polished blued .45 acp that has been back and forth to Miami now going on its 4th time since April. I am now trying to get my money refunded on it. The Remington R1 was the other gun I was looking at in the beginning. I wish I had spent the extra $120 up front and just bought one but then you can always get a bad gun regardless of who makes it.

Not sure about other places, but the R1 is kinda pricey compared to the Ruger around here. Even at Cabelas I'm able to get an SR1911 for only a few $$ more than the milspec Remington.

Looks like we both have great guns.

I picked up my R1 4.25 the other week. I finally had time to take her on a date in the desert. I was shooting 230 FMJ. I had 2 FTF (my fault). I was not shooting for MOA just familiarization and putting rounds down range.
Nothing fell off and it has great balance.

I was checking the Remington 7 rounds and Wilson Combat 8 round magazines. They worked super.
I started with 5 rounds in each magazine and worked my way up to 7 and 8 respectively. The last go around was with 1 in the chamber and 8 in the WC. They all went bang. I did not clean the gun during the session (ran out of lunch time).

I don't particularly care for the way the trigger looks but I didn't notice a problem with the pull or reset.
It's been 10 years since I shot a 1911 and the web between my thumb and index finger on my shooting hand did get roughed up some by the gun but I may not have held her tight enough.

I like it.

I've had a R1S since last summer. I can find no fault with it. It has the best trigger I've ever pulled. People who I've let shoot it agree. My bro-n-law has 3 1911s one of which was reworked for competitive shooting. When he shot my R1S he looked at me in amazement and said "WOW right out of the box, amazing".

Here is the first 3 shots ever fired from it at 25 yards. I love the gun

I have the Remington R1 and R1 Commander. Both are extremely well made and accurate. Right out of the box they are easily as good as 1911s costing hundreds more. If like me you don't get hammer bite and like the 1911A1 short trigger, spur hammer and slightly extended grip safety the standard R1 or R1 Commander are almost perfect, no upgrades necessary. For some reason Remington went with the non-A1 flat MSH but I love it with the A1 short trigger. So much so that I got a flat MSH for my old Colt A1.

What's really great, with aggressive R1 pricing lately and Remington's $75 mail in rebate you can get them very cheap. I caught a Memorial Day sale on the R1 for $475 and later the R1 Commander for $523 - both at a LGS. My two mail in rebates are processing now and if they come that's about $850 for both, plus 6.5% state tax. Amazing quality, US made 1911s for the price of Armscor or Tisas!

I bought my son the Remington R1 enhanced and it is a quality piece. The frame to slide fit is excellent and the gun is real smooth. My neighbor has the R1. It was a two tone special, we stripped the gun did a trigger job added a Greider match trigger , Wilson hammer and a Smith Alexander machine to fit beaver tail. Also a EGW over sized barrel link and an EGW over sized Barrel bushing all machined to fit. We cut the slide for the Novak front and rear adjustable sights. With the Nowlin gunsmith match barrel and satin black Ceracoat the gun is awsome. Because my neighbor is as big of a 1911 nut as myself he had me order two Ruger 1911s , a full size and the commander. The two guns were less than stellar when it came to fit and finish, so here we go again, and these two guns are done in satin black also with matching grips to look like a matching set. My gunsmith is a top 1911 smith. He doe's 5 hand built 1911s a year and you can order them any way you want.

The low in starts at about 2500.00 and goes up from there. I think we have around 2k in my neighbors guns. The 1911 platform is kinda endless and we love these guns, I also would take the R1 over the Ruger any day on fit and finish along. I myself have a Colt. I'am looking for another 1911 and it could very well be an R1. All the R1s and my Colt have the TJs 1911 series 80 to series 70 conversion shim. Love 1911s.
