Hi everybody. I was told that most companies don't make stocks for my 180 series mini 14. It shoots 55grain ball into one inch groups at 50 yards with the original rear and front sight. No muzzel break yet but if they do all they say I should be able to shoot half inch grousps. But anyway, back to my subject matter. Will the Bullpup stocks fit my mini? I dont have anyway to compare it to a new one but if anyone knows the answer I would very much appreciate it. I thought the receivers were the same but i was told mine is wider. Any other 180 series owners here? Mine was made in July 1976 and has the words"MADE IN THE 200TH YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY" engraved in the receiver. Still don't have camera yet. How do you post pictures anyway? Do I have to e-mail to a moderater? Thanks in advance for any info. **** Dawg :rapid:

Hey **** dawg. If your mini shoots 1" avg groups at 50 yds, this translates to 2" groups at 100 yds. That is better than most mini's shoot. A muzzle brake probably won't cut your groups in half, but hopefull reduce it some.

Use the search button, and enter bullpup, several threads will come up on this subject. I haven't seen a production stock for the 180 yet. If I had one, and liked to work with wood, I would make one. Some stock makers have a stock clone machine where they can duplicate your broken or cracked stock.

Hey 2gun. The 181-197 mini-14 have the same size receiver, but the 180 has a different dimension. If someone was into woodworking maby they could redo the inletting, and make one fit.

**** dawg,

Are you using iron sights or a scope?

If your using a scope you might try adjusting it.

If your using iron sights thats a good group, but glasses might help. Not intented to be inflamatory, need more info.

You should be able to get half inch group at 100 yards (scope) but I've seen some M1-A guys shoot iron sights at 200y, 300y, and 600y , that makes me put all my guns away and go home. Try a 69gr hpbt match round, You will notice better groups at longer distances. The muzzle brake will not really help for grouping.

Hi pilgrim, i am using iron sights. I put my scope on after I shot it a few times opened sight. I zeroed in for one cartridge type and shot wild. the same with another brand. Took my scope back off. am going to try some nato rds 62 grain. will find out which group is the best and then rescope my rifle. I don't think I really need a scope where I live. Just good binoculars. thanks for the advice. I have glasses but hate to wear them. **** Dawg;)

1/2" groups at 100 yds, with a std mini? If yours shoots this well we would be very interested on the mods you have done to it. Most mini's out of box shoot 3" to 5" groups at 100. Mine shot 4 1/2" groups, but with some tuning, and tweeking, and reloads have gotten it to shoot near 1" using a bench rest. We have some members with custom barrels, which claim to get near .5" groups.

As far as the muzzle brake, if you do a search in this forum they have helped with accuracy on all, but 1. Most typically get near a 50% decrease in group size. The average groups on mine went down to 2 1/4" just by this mod. The mini's barrel is very thin, so the muzzle brake either by shear weight, or the vented gass from, or the combination, does seem to dampen the barrel whip, to a lessor, and more consistant extent. I agree with you on other rifles with stiffer barrels, that a brake would not make as much difference in accuracy, only to dampen muzzle jump, but we are talking mini's.

We are always looking for new techniques to improve our mini's, and we would appreciate any that you might give us.;)
