I dug out 5 Ramlines I bought about '94 and never used. 4 of them are a light yellow smoke color, the fifth a dark charcoal.
Tinkering as I do, I used a needle file and filed the bottom of the locking blocks til they fit both my rifles. I found they all would hold the bolt back but not make the bolt stop fully engage without a little boost by pushing the button. Has anyone tried taking them apart? There's three locking tabs, one on the back and two on either side of the front, take two popsickle sticks or pull a wooden clothespin apart and 'gently' depress the two forward tabs and the floorplate pops off. Pull the follower and you'll see alot of little rough flashings around the rear of it. Needle file all these little flashs smooth, WD-40 the springs and see the difference it makes. This worked on the 4 light colored ones, the dark one is apparently a completely different run. Earlier maybe? It wouldn't come apart, the tabs were much harder and I didn't push it, it appeared to not need smoothing either. But this made alot of difference on the light ones, followers run much smoother. Start the rear tab first then pop in the front ones. I wouldn't use these for anything 'serious' but they should? be OK for plinking. I hesitate to do this regularly as to not fatique the plastic. But I thought I'd pass it on.

Thanks for the tip Mengo. I would recommend using another type of lubricant, as the WD-40 for some reason will become very sticky in a few weeks, also Ive seen the propellent for the WD attack certain plastics.

Ok. I did get the other one apart. Found the spring was in backwards and found that none of them activate my bolt stop/hold open at all. They merely jam the bolt in a open position and as soon as they're pulled free the bolt releases.
Idea... I took the followers out and clipped off the little finger and rounded it flush with the top, then rounded the top edge of the rear of the follower as you would a Mauser K98 follower so it won't lock the bolt back on the last shot, removed just enough material to allow the bolt to run over it smooth and clean. Lubed them with the new plastic safe stuff and have very smooth operation. Might even paint 'em black just for grins...
