I have one of these Ramline stocks, the kind with the locked folding arm and the ribbed fore-stock section, pistol grip. I dropped my 30 rig into it and noticed that at the gas-block, where it meets the end-portion of the stock with the little fittings, the stock is a little bit loose and there is a .5mm gap btw. the gasblock and the stock. Is this a.) becasue a the stock material is a little flimsy but still attched firmly to the gas block or b.) a bad stock? I hope this makes sense. I'll try the thing out and see what the results are but any knowledge you can share would be helpful. thanks.

I'll take a guess.

It sounds like you are trying to fit a gun into a stock that requires a stock reinforcement without said reinforcement.

Is that it? <G>

SP. It sounds like you don't have a required Forearm Liner & Stock Cap Assembly in your stock. Besides filling in the gap between the forestock, and gas block, it is a guide for the slide rod assy. DO NOT FIRE without it. It guides your slide rod into your gas pipe. Without it you could damage your rifle.

You can get these items from Brownells so you can swap stocks in seconds instead of fooling around trying to pull the hardware out. This is especially important if you have a folder, which is less practical for normal shooting and you probably want to swap easily. The parts you need are:

780-000-551 ... Page 391 ... Mini14 stock liner/cap ass'y, SS ........................................ 1 @ 9.76
780-000-545 ... Page 391 ... Mini14 stock reinforcement, SS ......................................... 1 @ 8.05
780-000-575 ... Page 391 ... Mini14 stock reinforcement screw, SS ............. 2 @ 1.19 ea = 2.38
780-000-863 ... Page 391 ... Mini14 stock reinforcem't lock washer, SS ...... 2 @ 1.19 ea = 2.38

The above prices are for a SS model (blue is cheaper) and assume you tell them you have a business to qualify for the discount. Page numbers are from the old #53 catalog (2000-01). You can skip the washers and find some in the hardware store if you want to save $2.
