I've been around through other forums. I believe that you are the gun Guru. (ok I'm dun sucking up) Anyway....I live in Oregon and I want to give my Ruger P-89DC -w- Hi-cap magazines to my brother in California. Being that I'm dealing with the Police State of California I don't want to screw anything up. You know that Feinstein B***h, No I wasn't going to say bitch!. I have read the California gun laws provided by the NRA, but they are really vague. Question is... can I just mail him the pistol, and have him register it, or do I have to go tru a gun dealer? I know this post is a bit off subject but I wanted to ask you. Thanks, Mike

I am not cajungeo, but I will say one or two things.

NO! You may not mail it to your brother directly. (want to go to jail?)

NO magazines over ten rounds into Kali. (want your brother to go too?)

You must have it sent to an FFL (Go FFL to FFL to CYOA), as your brother will have to go through his own ordeal to acquire the pistol, provided it is on the "safe" list to be sold or owned in Kali.

This was just mentioned on AR15.com, if this is not the same poster...

If I were you, I would take legal advice from the CA DOJ (and also the BATF&E) --- hear it straight from the horse's mouth in the following link.

Well thanks for the kind words Mongo, but I don't believe I'm a guru guy, or a lawyer. Off hand, I don't have sufficient knowledge of the Federal, and Calif, and Oregon states laws to answer your question. Handguns have some different laws, than long guns.
I can provide you with this link which is for the ATF. Rather than me spending the afternoon reasearching I would rather you do it.

I would not use the parcel post, as I find the postal service far below the independent carriers in knowledge, and service. If you called UPS, and told them your your situation they will be happy to help you as they deal with this all the time. A couple of extra dollars for content insurance is money well spent. Guns are a prime target for employ theft.

By the way, since this subject isn't about the mini I will move it to the general discussion bd.
