Anyone with experience with the Promag 20rd magazines in a Springfield M1A? Half the price....half as good? Or how about the Taiwan T57? Man, the mags are hard to find, and of course it won't get any better...soon may be impossible.

I have 4 Korean mags & after a little tweak to the feed lips made them reliable. The mags can now be dropped & the rounds will not pop out which means they will not get to the last 2-5 & pop out of the mag while rocked & locked.

Also, the National mags in 20 & 25 rounders function flawlessly for me too!
Well, went ahead and shelled out the dough for 3 20rd Springfield mags from the factory. Pricey, but considering the times, everything is pricey, or soon will be, if you can get 'em at all. Just bought a new M-21 tactical. Should get that by next week. :sniper:
I was "lucky" enough to buy three Checkmate mags before Firearmeggedon hit. Hope it works our for all of us.
damn I wish I knew you guys were looking for mags.. I posted my Socom 16 on gunbroker with 14 mags.

SPRINGFIELD M1A SOCOM 16 with lots of mags!!!! : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com
I would have gladly tossed a few your way and sold it with fewer mags.

If it doesn't sell on gunbroker and it doesn't sell on consignment at my LGS by the end of Jan then I'll post back on here

I've been using the magazines from springfield in my M1A.

I've used the 10 and 20 round Promags in my mini-14 with good results.

I'm a little late on the ball game here (see my introduction) but I have a promag 20 rounder that I got about 6 months ago that works as good as Check-Mate mags. It is a little harder to get in the mag well but it is a solid mag for the money.
Just playing the game here also. If you are looking for quality M1A mags, I have 6 Vietnam era USGI mags marked either BRW or KMT listed on the For Sale section here. These are the best as they are stilled being issued to Army Squad Designated Marksman using the Sage stocked M14, they are also very easy to prove as being made "Pre-ban" if this matters in your state.

Verified vintage USGI mags, current USGI mags made by C.M.I. and Norinco/Poly Tech mags are the ONLY ones I will use.

Be careful not to buy counterfeit vintage USGI mags, plenty are floating around.

The Norinco and Poly mags are pretty good? I haven't got to see one in action. I like my pro-mag, but I may have got a screw-up (aka a good one.) I bought it because pro-mags work in my Mini-14 and 1911, and 44mag was out at the time.
Ok thanks for the info! By the way have always admired your '14 collection!
