Well boys- I'm leaving for my annual pilgrimage to the Prarie Dog Killing grounds....:D I will let you know how the new DRC Shilen Mini does. I mounted a Leupold Tactical 4.5-14 on this baby & she shoots only Black Hills 52Gr. MATCH. She ya when I get back with a full report. HOOOOOOORAAA!:sniper:

:D I'm Back! What a great time..as usual. The Mini performed flawlessly. Any dog that popped up under 250 yards was vaporized. No lie. First shot kills not a problem , If I wounded one(which happens every now & then) the second shot came quickly. The guy I went with & his brother , have two DPMS bull barrels with all the bells & wistles & after they saw what I was doing with the Mini- & after they shot the Mini, they agreed that the AR's will go on the selling block & they'll be ordering full bull barrel Minis from Accuracy in Colorado. I too will be ordering a full bull barrel Mini from this same company, my reasoning is this- If a muzzle weighted barrel with a little bedding and a trigger job can do this good ,then a fully customized bull barrel thru the gas block-has to be better. One note to the story- I shot over 700 rounds of Black Hills 52gr Match thru the Mini- at the end of the trip we were all plinking in a valley & against my better beliefs I put about four hundred rounds of Wolf thru her. Now the gun is "HOT" really hot. I put in my last mag of wolf cycle the bolt and start glassing for dogs. Only a few minutes.. I spot one squeeze the trigger-click-nothing. Rack the bolt..it won't go. The round is laquered/glued to my bolt face. What a pain in the ass- but I got the round out & could only think it was the famous wolf laquer which melted onto the bolt face. My only problem & that was not a Mini problem..poor ammo problem. All in all a great gun & I cannot wait to tinker with her more. I have pictures but my digital was not working & they are regular 35mm prints. I'll scan them and post. Thanks for listening...HoooooRAA:sniper:
P.S- I also made two 570 yard kills with my Customized Rem700 Sniper rifle(223). Laser ranged to confirm the kill distance.Witnessed by two members of the Varmit Hunters Assoc. -look for the picture in an upcoming issue of Varmit Hunter Mag.

I forgot to add a few things- If I attempted to shoot a dog out past 250 yards I usually got mixed results...My first shot would be off a little but I was always able to do quick follow up shots with great results. My bolt guns were accurate out past 400 yards with match grade ammo. This is a great rifle & I know it's limitations. For prarie dog / coyote work at 250 yards or under -I have 100% confidence in her. Anything more than I'll go to my bolt guns. DOGMAN Out.:sniper:

Hi Dogman1
I'am new to the board, very good info here.I just got in to the Mini14's. Sounds like you had fun with the dogs!
I'am going to go to Colorado
in a couple weeks to shoot some to. I was wondering if you have a address or if they
have a website for that barrel company in Colorado.
Good Shooting Thanks Walt
